Deadlock Cursed Apple

Read the overhauled lanes, four districts, and Haunts of the Cursed Apple.

The Deadlock Cursed Apple is the siege map under City Never Sleeps. Valve restyled New York into themed lane stretches and four interior districts that sit off the main streets. Uptown is the quickest route into the fight, with rumblings under the subway line. The green stretch is a haunted university campus and park. The yellow stretch mixes shadowy factory yards with stock-exchange and seaport heritage. Inside the blocks, Theater, Chinatown, Haunted Lot, and Plaza are the four named districts. Haunts replace the old generic neutrals, and two soul hotspots define high-risk farming: Chinatown's Bell Tower and the Sunken Plaza.

Lane themes after the visual overhaul

Official City Never Sleeps art frames three themed stretches rather than a list of extra district names. Uptown, colored blue in the visitor copy, is the fastest path to the action and sits over a subway line that the page describes as restless. Broadway and the Greenwich campus stretch, colored green, is the haunted university and park side of the rebuild. York and the Stock Exchange stretch, colored yellow, carries factory shadow and seaport heritage.

These lane themes sit on the same 6v6 siege geometry: Troopers still walk out of base, ziplines still run the routes, and you still have to break lane defenses before you reach a Patron. The overhaul changes how you read the city, not the win condition. If you are new, treat Uptown as the fight highway, the campus stretch as the haunt-heavy park side, and the stock-exchange stretch as the industrial pocket with less open sky.

Four districts off the main streets

Theater is the hidden corridor of the Cursed Apple, with Stage Hands called out as its Haunts. Chinatown holds the Bell Tower, a concentrated soul hotspot that rings across the map when you collect there. Haunted Lot is the district haunt corridor named on the City Never Sleeps visitor guide. Plaza is the sunken square: stamina fades as you descend, and the payoff is a high-risk soul stop rather than a sightseeing balcony.

Do not add extra district names. The research set is Theater, Chinatown, Haunted Lot, and Plaza. Each one is a reason to leave the lane, not a second map. Pair a district visit with a zipline plan so you can return before a Walker dies. Chinatown's bell is audible map-wide, which makes it both a farm announcement and a gank magnet.

Haunts instead of generic neutrals

City Never Sleeps presents neutrals as Haunts. The marketing page groups them with the district work rather than as a separate jungle item list. Theater's Stage Hands are the one Haunt family named in the district copy. Other Haunt packs sit in Haunted Lot and along the campus stretch, but Valve did not publish a full bestiary with gold values.

Play them as stacked camps that cost time. A Haunt clear that delays a Guardian is a lost trade unless the souls buy a shop spike. The HUD update after City Never Sleeps surfaces Haunt info next to parry and ping wheels, so you can ping a camp without typing. For the shop side of those souls, continue to Souls & Shop. For how Troopers interact with the same economy, see How to Play.

Bell Tower and Sunken Plaza

Chinatown's Bell Tower is the named concentrated soul hotspot. Collecting there rings the bell across the Cursed Apple, which is useful for your team and loud for theirs. Plan the pickup with a teammate already on a zipline, or treat the ring as the start of a fight you wanted anyway.

The Sunken Plaza under the square trades stamina drain for high-risk rewards. The longer you stay down, the worse your sprint out becomes. It is a stamina puzzle as much as a soul pile. If you are still learning movement, skip the Plaza until you can parry and zipline without thinking, then run it as a timed dive rather than a camping spot.

Rotations that do not donate a Walker

A district visit has to pay for the wave you skipped. Chinatown Bell Tower is the loudest example: the ring tells the whole Cursed Apple you are there. Go with a teammate already on a zipline, or treat the bell as the start of a fight you wanted. Theater is quieter and better for a single Haunt clear if Stage Hands are up and your Guardian is healthy. Haunted Lot is a corridor; do not camp it while a Walker dies. Plaza is a timed dive because stamina fades as you descend.

Uptown remains the fastest street into a fight. The campus stretch is where Haunt packs and park sightlines mix. The stock-exchange stretch is tighter and darker, which makes heavy melee and crates more tempting and guns less free. None of those themes change the win condition. You still need Troopers, Guardians, Walkers, and a Patron. Use the zipline home after a soul spike so the shop in base, not the alley, gets the first spend. The Broker can wait until 30 minutes. Official district names are Theater, Chinatown, Haunted Lot, and Plaza; if a community map adds a fifth, wait for Valve to print it.
